Update on CETAG – CENTSAG Strike Action November 2022
It has been 72hours now and counting since the leadership of CETAG and CENTSAG declared an industrial strike demanding better conditions of service. Find below, the update on CETAG – CENTSAG strike action November 2022.
Colleges of Education Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff Association declared an industrial strike action on the 14th of November, 2022 demanding better conditions of services from the government. The joint press release by CETAG and CENTSAG does not show that an agreement is reached to call off the strike action.
Academic activities in all public colleges of education have ceased and waiting for a response from the government to address their concerns including services of non-teaching staff.
The Leadership of the Colleges Of Education Teachers Association of Ghana and Colleges of Education Non-Teaching Staff Association of Ghana has engaged the Ministry of Education on the industrial strike declared by the two unions.
Update on CETAG – CENTSAG Strike Action November 2022
These are some of the discussed issues between the MoE nd the leadership of CETAG and CENTSAG.
- CETAG and CENTSAG were allowed to brief the Hon. Minister on the concerns which have led to the strike action.
- The Government Team insisted that once our CoS was not captured in the 2022 Budget, there was no way Government can implement it.
- The Hon. Minister once again asked leadership to call off the strike to enable him to have the legal mandate to engage us to resolve our outstanding concerns but leadership
- At the meeting, Hon. Minister informed the house that he called the meeting to get better clarification on CETAG and CENTSAG concerns and to appeal to us to call off our strike for him to intervene to resolve our outstanding issues.
He said he has no mandate to chair a negotiation meeting so CETAG and CENTSAG should allow as such.
The Hon. Minister once again asked leadership to call off the strike to enable him to have the legal mandate to engage us to resolve our outstanding concerns.
