Most people get confused when it comes to differentiating a CV from a Resume. They are different kinds of stuff altogether but serve almost the same purpose. Most people don’t know the difference between a CV and a Resume.
Both of them will be needed sometimes and other times too, either of them is required. Mostly when applying for jobs, applicants are told to either provide a CV or a Resume.

What is a Resume?
A resume is a document created and used by a person to present their background, skills, and accomplishments. Resumes can be used for a variety of reasons, but most often they are used to secure new employment. You will need to be able to write a good resume before you can secure a job. Basically, that’s what is used for.
What is a CV?
In English, a curriculum vitae, Latin for “course of life“, often shortened to CV, is a short written summary of a person’s career, qualifications, and education. This covers the educational background of an individual.
The CV presents a full history of your academic credentials, so the length of the document is variable.
As said earlier on, both may serve the same purpose but they are not the same. In the table below, we will list the difference between a CV and a Resume.
