PRINCOF has issued a statement on the feeding of students on campus which is becoming a serious issue Colleges. As a result of this, college of education students to feed themselves is a must.
PRINCOF has made it clear that there is not enough foodstuff to feed the students on campus. And as a result of the increase in prices of foodstuffs in the market, Principals can’t afford to take the risks anymore.
Another issue has to do with foodstuff suppliers who are not willing to make foodstuffs available without them been paid.
Below is the letter released by PRINCOF today, 31st October 2022.
College of Education Students to Feed Themselves
The Letter Reads as Below;
“Front Desk REQUEST FOR PERMISSION TO ASK STUDENTS IN COLLEGES OF EDUCATION TO FEND FOR THEMSELVES I write on behalf of the Conference of Principals of Colleg, es of Education (PRINCOF), to seek your approval for Principals to ask s to fend for themselves effective Monday, November 7, 2022.
Principals of Colleges of Education have been trying really very hard to feed trainee teachers in recent times as a result of current market trends.
Prices of all food items have shot up astronomically, and food suppliers have refused to supply any food items to Colleges because of the indebtedness of Colleges to these suppliers.
A request for an upward review of the feeding grant paid to Principals has not been approved, and it has therefore become increasingly difficult for
Principals are to continue to provide three meals to students at Six Cedis, Fifty Pesewas (C6.50). In light of the above, it is the wish of PRINCOF to be permitted students to start fending for themselves.
This is to ensure that the already stretched academic year is not disrupted.”
Counting very much on your approval.
