Applications are invited from qualified persons into Tamale Technical University for the 2020/2021. Another academic year is on the way. Mode of Payment and Delivery of Application form

  1. Applicants should pay for e-vouchers from any branch of the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) or CAL BANK
  2. Applicants should log in admissions.tatu.edu.gh with e-vouchers to complete the application form online
  3. Two (2) copies of the completed application forms should be printed and submitted through EMS to

Entry Requirements

  1. HND certificate, University diploma, post-graduate, or professional certificate in a relevant field, plus two (2) years working experience in a related industry
  2. Level II or higher of ACCA, ICA (Ghana), CIMA or its equivalents for Accounting with Computing only
  3. Advanced Diploma in Computerized Accounting or its equivalents from a recognized institution
  4. Any NAB accredited (Non-Accounting) degree (NB. The applicant will have to pass an interview to be considered).

1. Arts, and Business Programmes

  1. Accountancy – Morning and Evening Sessions
  2. Secretaryship and Management Studies – Morning and Evening Sessions
  3. Marketing – Morning and Evening Sessions
  4. Fashion Design and Textiles Studies
  5. Industrial Arts (Leather Works, Ceramics, Sculpture, Graphic Design, Painting & Decorating and Textiles options)
  6. Tourism
  7. Media and Communication Studies.

Entry Requirements for Arts and Business (Direct Entry)

  1. WASSCE Candidates: Six (6) passes (A1 – D7) in all subjects including English Language and Core Mathematics; three of the passes must be relevant to the area of specialization with minimum grades of C6.
  2. SSSCE/GBCE/RSA II Candidates: Six (6) passes (A – D) in all subjects including English
  3. DBS/ABC/GBCE/RSA III /Senior Stenographer Applicants: DBS, ABCE/ or RSA III certificate plus four WASSCE passes (A1-D7) or four SSSCE, GBCE or RSA II passes (A-D) including English Language and Mathematics.
  4. GCE Advanced Level applicants: Passes in three (3) relevant subjects and five (5) credit passes in GCE ‘O’ Level subjects including English Language and Mathematics.

Science and Technology Programmes

  1. Mechanical Engineering (Plant, Production, Automobile, Welding, and Fabrication options)
  2. Agricultural Engineering

  5. Hotel, Catering and Institutional Management (HCIM) – Morning and Weekend Sessions
  6. Electricals/Electronics Engineering – Morning, Evening, and Weekend Sessions
  7. Information and Communication Technology – Morning and Evening Sessions
  8. Water and Sanitation Engineering
  9. Instrumentation and Automation Engineering

Entry Requirements for Science and Technology Programmes (Direct Entry)

  1. SSSCE/WASSCE Applicants: Six (6) passes (A – D/A1 – D7) in all subjects including English Language and Core Mathematics; three of the passes must be relevant to the area of specialization with minimum grades of C6
  2. GCE Advanced Level Candidates: Passes in three (3) relevant subjects and five (5) credit passes in five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level subjects including English Language and Mathematics.
  3. Technical School (Certificate II) Applicants (NABPTEX & TEU): Applicants must have Six (6) passes in all subjects including English Language and Core Mathematics; three of the passes must be relevant to the area of specialization (Science related disciplines).
  4. Technician Applicants: Technician certificates (Part I and Part II) or a pass in Ordinary Technician Diploma plus four (4) SSSCE/WASSCE passes (A – D/A1 – D7) including English Language and Core Mathematics..
  5. Access Applicants: Passes in English language, Mathematics and Science organized by NABPTEX, plus Technician certificate or SSSCE/WASSCE passes in one (1) core subject, one (1) science elective subject and any other science subject

Other Entry Requirements

Certificate or Diploma holders from recognized higher institutions are eligible to apply for any related HND programme. However, such Diplomas/Certificates must be included in the National Accreditation Board’s (NAB) database of recognized credentials.

General Entry Requirements for Mature HND Applicants

Applicants who have evidence of completing school at Advance or Technical programmes, GCE ‘O’ Level, GCE “A” Level, WASSCE/SSSCE, Teachers certificate or any recognized education and obtained the age of 25 years and above but have not met the above-stated requirements are eligible to apply as mature candidates. In addition, such applicants:

  1. pass a written examination and an interview to be conducted by the University.
  2. provide evidence of at least two (2) years’ work experience.
  3. provide a Birth Certificate at the interview.

Diploma in Computerized Accounting

Entry Requirements
  1. Five passes in all subjects (SSSCE/WASSCE) Including English and Mathematics
  2. Mature applicants
    1. Applicant must be 25 years or more
    2. Must pass an entrance examination and a selection interview
  3. Duration: 2 years

Diploma in Business Administration

Entry Requirements
  1. Five passes in all subjects (SSSCE/WASSCE) Including English and Mathematics
  2. Mature applicants
    1. Applicant must be 25 years or more
    2. Must pass an entrance examination and a selection interview
  3. Duration: 2 years

Professional Diploma Programmes

  1. Catering and Entrepreneurship
  2. Catering and Hospitality Management
  3. Tourism Management
  4. Automotive Engineering
  5. Electrical Engineering
  6. Electronics Engineering
  7. Civil Engineering
  8. Welding and Fabrication Technology

Entry Requirement

  1. SSSCE/WASSCE APPLICANTS: Five Passes in any Subject Area Including English Language and Core Mathematics
  2. O’LEVEL/GBCE/ABCE AND A’LEVEL APPLICANTS: Five Passes in O’ LEVEL/A’ Level/GBCE/ABCE Including English Language and Mathematics
  3. INTERMEDIATE/TECHNICIAN APPLICANTS: Four Passes Including English Language or Technician Part I
  4. MATURE APPLICANTS:
    1. 25 Years and Above
    2. Provide Documentary Evidence of Relevant Work Experience
    3. Pass a Departmental Examination and Interview

  3. NACVET/NVTI/Government Secretarial Typist Certificate (for Secretarial Option).
  4. Four (4) ABC passes (A-D) including English Language and Mathematics
  5. Four (4) RSA II passes including English Language and Mathematics
